That was when there was that massive abalone die off. End of August 2011... Ive seen it many many times, from dim to bright, but Ive never seen it like I did that one night. It was beyond breathtaking. The only experience that compares is kayaking on it.. you see it from a whole other perspective, its like boating on the stars, with fire works of fish shooting by, sometimes slowly enough that you can see every detail of them as if they were ghosts. Bat Rays, sharks, halibut, they all light up. Its very similar to that scene in Life of Pi, with the whale, however it is not always so vivid. However, there are nights every summer that are just like in the movie.Rachelnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3221224146765808451.post-17677790479145641782012-01-02T23:23:27.049-08:002012-01-02T23:23:27.049-08:00Hi Jerry. I just took my first trip out to Bodega Bay from Sebastopol and was overwhelmed by its beauty and photo opportunities. I recently moved to Sebastopol so if you ever need someone to help haul your bags or want to chat photography over coffee send me a note.
Best Wishes,
MelissaMelissahttp://shootsandroots.wordpress.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3221224146765808451.post-3670812559928040902011-09-01T10:57:23.193-07:002011-09-01T10:57:23.193-07:00Thanks for this - I've been googling this phen...Thanks for this - I've been googling this phenomenon and this is literally the only info I found on it. I went last night and played around in the sand, watched the waves, and allowed myself to be absolutely awestruck. So glad to find some info. The rangers told me I should seen it a couple weeks earlier when it was REALLy going, which would have been late October. Blue Waters Kayaking leads night time biolumenescence kayak tours on Tomales Bay and I think I'll have to do that next year. Any tips for me if I wanted to go witness it myself?

Aleya

ajvandoren @ gmail.comAleyahttp://www.rockandsky.comnoreply@blogger.com
